EXTRUSION FROM ORIGNAL STRUCTURE
2D Extruded Members:
The two members I decided to extrude from the original smith house was the structure set up utilizing the beams that ran across the north side of the home. These beams and girders would be extended past the east side of the house at a 45 degree angle. The second member I chose to extrude was the circulation path to make it simple to get from the original portion of the house to the new addition.

Jeff and his wife Sarah Kessler recently moved into the famous ‘Smith house’ Designed by Richard Meier in 1965. Although they fell in love with the home, they wanted to make some changes to give their own identity to the home they just purchased. With the birth of their first child, the Kessler’s has decided to slow down from their busy lives with work to focus on their family. The emphasis of the new addition to the Smith house will be the family room, followed by the addition of their new master bedroom. Since the newest member has joined the Kessler family, they quickly realized that Family is the key to happiness. Which is why the Meta idea addition to the home will be Key, which will wrap around the family room and bedroom to symbolize their ideology of having a happy life.

ADDITION TO A EXISTING ORDER
The focus of this project is to adapt the existing building known as the Smith House which was designed by Richard Meier in 1965. A client comes along and wishes to expand their current home( The aforementioned Smith House),While still retaining its architectural integrity. To do this the systems that are contained within the original design must be understood and expanded upon rather than completely designing a new look to the house.

Contextual Analysis
The Arch style of bridging is one of the most popular designs. The basic principle of an arch bridge is its curved design, Because of the unique shape of its design it conveys the load along the curve rather than pushing the load forces straight down.

CONCEPTUAL CONNECTING ANALOGY
The connection analogy I chose to use was the hinge connection which primarily deals with the addition of a member to the edge or corner of an abutting member. However because I need a decent amount of space for the circulation through the members I am not able to join the memebers at the edge of the corner.
